Defending champion Roseau withstood Tracy-Milroy-Balaton’s upset bid and advanced with a 62-56 victory in the Class 2A state quarterfinals on Wednesday at Williams Arena.
The Rams (25-5) trailed by as many as 14 points five minutes into the second half before putting together a 16-2 run to tie the game. They took the lead for good on freshman Katie Borowicz’s putback basket with four minutes to go.
“When you’ve been [to state] four years in a row you hope your veteran composure is going to pay off,” Roseau coach Kelsey Didrikson said. “We would have liked a better start, but we played calm and with experience down the stretch.”

Borowicz finished with 17 points, the final two on a pair of game-clinching free throws with 9.8 seconds left. Her older sister Kacie, a junior, finished with 15 points.
Seniors Kaylee Kirk and Evelyn Dolan each scored 16 points for the Panthers (29-3).
