Eastview, Robbinsdale Cooper, Sauk Centre and Lyle-Pacelli begin the state tournament as the teams to beat.
Each earned the top seed in their respective sections for the event that begins Wednesday with games at the Target Center and Williams Arena at the University of Minnesota.
Eastview received the No. 1 seed in Class 4A, and the Lightning (29-0) are looking to improve on last season's third-place finish. The team enters the state tournament owning the No. 1 ranking in Minnesota Basketball News' Class 4A poll.
Hopkins, Cretin-Derham Hall, Lakeville North and Maple Grove round out the top five seeds in the bracket.
Robbinsale Cooper also finished the regular season sitting atop the rankings, nestling at No. 1 in Class 3A for the season. The Hawks are 26-2 overall and cruised through the Section 6 playoffs en route to their first trip to the state tournament.
Cooper nabbed the top seed in the bracket, landing ahead of No. 2 Northfield, No. 3 Holy Angels, No. 4 DeLaSalle and No. 5 Willmar.
Sauk Centre has been dominant this season, going 30-0 and maintaining its reign over Class 2A as the top team in the rankings.
The Mainstreeters are making their fourth consecutive appearance at state. They finished second last season.
They were an easy selection for the top seed in the bracket, but winning a title will difficult with Class 2A newcomer Maranatha Christian boasting a championship pedigree. The second-seeded Mustangs are back at state for the ninth consecutive year and won Class 1A championships in 2011 and 2012.
Roseau, Minnehaha Academy and Norwood Young America are the other top seeds.
Lyle-Pacelli nearly went undefeated in the regular season, with a 65-53 loss to Crestwood — the No. 1-ranked Class 3A program in Iowa — being its lone blemish. The defeat didn't keep the team from living atop Class 1A rankings this season.
A perfect record against Minnesota teams also helped the Athletics (29-1) secure the top seed in the Class 1A bracket.
Mountain Iron-Buhl earned the No. 2 seed ahead of No. 3 Ada-Borup, No. 4 Minneota and No. 5 Menahga.
