Class 4A: Roseville defeats Park Center to advance to state

Roseville pulled away from Park Center with a big run midway through the second half, winning 61-45 for the Class 4A, Section 5 girls’ basketball championship Thursday at Anoka High School.

Roseville (22-7) earned its first state berth since 2007, thanks largely to a 22-3 run to put away the Pirates.

Raiders senior captain Kaylee Nelson hit a pair of three-pointers in the second half, and freshman center Tamia Ugass added four second-half baskets.

Roseville went on an 11-0 run midway through the second half to pull away from Park Center in a 61-45 victory in the Class 4A, Section 5 championship on Thursday at Anoka High School.

Jayda Johnston led the third-seeded Raiders (22-7) with 16 points and Tamia Ugass added 14, as Roseville outscored Park Center (19-10) 38-22 in the second half.

Aralia McKenzie scored 11 for the Pirates, the fourth seed, who had made four consecutive state appearances before this year.
