All-Metro first-team members sound off on….

Whom do you patern your game after? One junk food you cannot resist The first great play you remember making
Carmen Backes Maya Moore and Candace Parker. I like how they are versatile and use their strength to overpower people while also stretching their game to the outside. Ice cream. There is no better companion to celebrate the good times and no better comforter for the rough times. Our first state tournament game in seventh grade. I got in the game late in the second half. I chucked up a three about 3 feet beyond the arc. It went in and I was so excited.
Emma Grothaus I play most similar to Candace Parker. She is a slim 6-3 stretch post who plays on the perimeter and also in the post. I like to play fast, like her. I can never resist ice cream. There are so many options on how to eat it and so many flavors, it never gets boring. I'm not good at remembering earlier seasons. However, this season I made a game-winning left-handed layup against White Bear Lake.
Paige Bueckers Kyrie Irving. His handles and creativity is something to watch. After every game, I ask my parents to stop at the gas station and get an Icee. Game was tied with two seconds left. My coach called an in-bounds play and I hit the game-winner.
Kallie Theisen I really like Sylvia Fowles. I try to take some pieces of her game, but she's a hard person to copy. I LOVE Kit Kats. In fifth grade, I had my first three-pointer and everyone was shocked that I made it I think I was shocked, too.
Megan Walstad Maya Moore. I grew up watching the Lynx and I love how hard she always plays. Ice cream. Hitting a game-winning shot in double OT in fourth grade traveling basketball.

All-Metro second team

Monika Czinano
Watertown-Mayer, 6-2, sr. forward
College: Iowa
She averaged a double-double (points and career) while leading the school to 93 wins in a four-year span.  Czinano provides “laughter to our practices, film sessions and locker room meetings,” Royals coach John Rosholt said.

Morgan Hill
Minneapolis South, 5-10, sr. guard
College: Tennessee-Chattanooga
A three-time Minneapolis City Conference player of the year, Hill improved her shot tremendously this season. She averaged 26.2 points and 7 rebounds per game.

McKenna Hofschild
Prior Lake, 5-3, jr. guard
College: Undecided
Though petite, Hofschild is a creative and athletic scorer. She proved that in the Class 4A, Section 2 championship, scoring 42 points in the Lakers’ 74-71 come-from-behind victory over Minnetonka. “The game never gets too big for her. The bigger the game gets, the better she gets,” Lakers coach Mike Gidley said.

Kayla Mershon
Minnetonka, 6-3, sr. forward
College: Nebraska
Mershon’s skill set makes her very versatile. She averaged a double-double in her final season. “Kayla has a positive influence in each and every game she plays,” Skippers coach Leah Dasovich said.

Destinee Oberg
Holy Angels, 6-2, jr. forward
College: Arkansas
Oberg combines size, strength and quickness to be dominant on the interior. “She changes the game plans for many teams with consistent double and triple teams,” Stars coach Dan Woods said.

Frannie Hottinger, Cretin-Derham Hall, 6-0, jr. forward
