Players are considered for the Top Performer poll only if their stats are entered on the MN Girls' Basketball Hub by 10 a.m. on Sundays. If any coaches or members of their coaching staff would like to be set up to enter stats, please email mnhubs@sportngin.com.


Fans' choice for Top Performer

Betsy Schoenrock, New Richland-Hartland-Ellendale-Geneva. Schoenrock recorded a triple-double to lead the Panthers (12-6, 6-2) past Lake Crystal-Wellcome Memorial 67-48 on Feb. 1. She finished with 32 points, 21 rebounds and 10 blocks.

Top Performer candidates

McKenna Hofschild, Prior Lake. Hofschild scored 38 points to lead the Lakers (11-9, 7-5) over Farmington 79-74 on Jan. 30. She also finished with 25 points in a 64-49 triumph over Lakeville South on Feb. 2 to extend Prior Lake’s winning streak to three games.  

Kacie Borowicz, Roseau. Borowicz had 32 points in an 81-30 victory over Crookston on Jan. 29. Borowicz shot 13 of 21 from the field and made three three-pointers to lead the Rams (16-4, 4-0), who are ranked No. 5 in Class 2A by Minnesota Basketball News.

Heaven Hamling, Grand Rapids. Hamling nearly led the No. 14-3A Thunderhawks (14-7) to a victory at No. 14-4A Minnetonka, posting 34 points in a 68-67 loss on Feb. 1. The senior also had 21 points against Duluth East in a 77-35 win two days earlier.

Madi Schirmer, Maple River. Schirmer finished with 34 points in a 72-63 overtime loss to Waterville-Elysian-Morristown on Feb. 1, however, the Eagles (13-5, 7-1) still hold a half-game lead over Blooming Prairie in the Gopher Conference standings.

Mary Burke, Mountain Iron-Buhl. Burke scored a game-high 31 and surpassed 2,000 career points in an 80-70 loss to No. 3-2A Maranatha Christian on Feb. 3.  The senior also scored 25 points against Nashwauk-Keewatin in an 89-19 victory on Jan. 30 and had 23 in a 71-25 win over Eveleth-Gilbert a day earlier for the No. 2-1A Rangers (20-2).

Madi Heiderscheidt, Sleepy Eye. Heiderscheidt broke the school’s single-season scoring record with a 32-point performance in 74-58 victory against Minnesota Valley Lutheran on Jan. 30, helping No. 20-1A Sleepy Eye improve to 16-4 overall and 10-2 in the Tomahawk Conference.

Grace Kirk, Duluth Marshall. Kirk scored a game-high 34 points in a 75-54 win over Braham on Feb. 2, giving the No. 20-2A Hilltoppers (17-2, 3-1) their ninth consecutive victory.

Carmen Backes, Chisago Lakes. Backes had 34 points against Cloquet on Feb. 2, but No. 13-3A Wildcats (12-7, 6-2) came short in a 61-59 loss. Backes also had 18 points against Big Lake in a 63-51 triumph a day earlier and finished with 23 against St. Francis in a 67-60 loss on Jan. 30.

Shaily Hakamaki, Cromwell-Wright. Hakamaki scored a game-high 32 points in a 77-34 blowout of Carlton on Feb. 1, helping the Cardinals (13-6, 6-0) win three straight games.
