Players are considered for the Top Performer poll only if their stats are entered on the MN Girls' Basketball Hub by 10 a.m. on Sundays. If any coaches or members of their coaching staff would like to be set up to enter stats, please email mnhubs@sportngin.com.


Fans' choice for Top Performer

Rachel Hakes, Woodbury: Hakes had an amazing week or the Royals (9-6, 5-3). She had a 40-point outburst -- along with eight rebounds, six steals and four assists -- against Mounds View in a 70-59 win on Jan. 16. Three days later, Hakes posted a 26-point game against Cretin-Derham Hall in a 69-53 loss. She also finished with six rebounds and four assists against the Raiders.

Top Performer candidates

Tayzha Buck, Red Wing: Buck made six three-pointers and nearly matched a season-high scoring total with 26 points in a 63-46 loss to Northfield, ranked No. 3 in Class 3A by Minnesota Basketball News, on Jan. 18. Buck had a season-high 27 points in a 68-43 win over Austin on Dec. 19. 

Lariah Washington, St. Cloud Apollo: Washington made 12 of 15 shots from the field and scored 30 points against Rocori in a 94-60 victory on Jan. 18. It marked Washington’s sixth game of 30 or more points this season.

Mary Burke, Mountain Iron-Buhl: Burke poured in 24 points in an 80-23 win over New York Mills on Jan. 20. She went 9-for-15 from the field and hit four three-pointers for the No. 2-1A Rangers (16-1).

Emma Grothaus, Mahtomedi: Grothaus scored a game-high 25 points in a 68-40 victory against Metro East Conference rival Hastings on Jan. 16. She had 22-point game three days later as the No. 4-3A Zephyrs (13-1, 4-0) defeated Hill-Murray 59-30.

Joey Batt, New Ulm: Batt put together another outstanding offensive game in a 67-34 victory against Redwood Valley on Jan. 16. She shot 10-for-15 from the field and knocked down 10 of 11 free throws to help the No. 18-3A Eagles (12-5, 4-3) to a third straight victory.

McKenna Hofschild, Prior Lake: Hofschild eclipsed the 30-point mark for the sixth time this season when she scored 33 points against No. 4-4A Lakeville North in a 76-73 win. She had 25 points against Apple Valley in a 63-50 loss on Jan. 19.

Kacie Borowicz, Roseau: Borowicz nearly matched a season-high with 34 points in a 85-58 victory against Badger-Greenbush Middle River on Jan. 18. Her season high is 35 points, which came Dec. 22 against Mountain Iron-Buhl in a 90-86 victory. She finished the game hitting 15 of 34 attempts from the field, had five rebounds and seven assists against Badger-Greenbush Middle River.

Abbey McDonald, Hibbing: McDonald's 28 points helped lead unranked Hibbing (10-6, 2-0) to a 60-44 victory over No. 7-3A Chisago Lakes on Jan. 20. She went 7-for-17 from the field and hit 13 of 17 from the free-throw line as victory snapped a four-game skid for the Bluejackets. McDonald also had 24 points in a 74-55 loss to Grand Rapids on Jan. 18 and 18 against Cloquet in a 61-58 loss on Jan. 16.

Madeline Loder, Orono: Loder scored 31 points to lead Orono past Blake 64-49 on Jan. 20. It was the second win in a row for a Spartans team (5-12, 1-2) that snapped an eight-game losing streak with a 65-57 win over Holy Family Catholic on Jan. 18.
