Player of the Week winner

Lariah Washington, St. Cloud Apollo. Washington had back-to-back 30-point games last week against Willmar and St. Cloud Tech. Washington posted 31 points in a 78-73 loss against Willmar on 7 of 11 shooting. She went for 32 points two nights later in a 61-44 win over St. Cloud Tech on 9-for-14 shooting.

Player of the Week candidates

Joey Batt, New Ulm. Batt, who is averaging 30.3 points per game for the Eagles, continued her spree last week with a 34-point performance against Worthington in a 69-47 victory and a 30-point game against Mankato West in a 71-68 loss. She shot 11 of 16 from the field against Worthington and 6 of 11 against the Scarlets.

Sara Scalia, Stillwater. Scalia scored a season-high 37 points in a 69-56 victory over Suburban East Conference rival Woodbury on 7-for-14 shooting. Scalia is averaging 26.4 points per game for the Ponies, who aim to make a run in the conference this year.

Madeline Loder, Orono. Loder went on a tear last week in three games, shooting 50 percent or better in each contest. Loder tallied 31 points in a 75-44 win over Dassel-Cokato and dropped 36 two nights later on Rogers in a 61-59 victory. Loder wrapped the week up with 28 points against Watertown-Mayer, which is ranked No. 6 in Class 2A by Minnesota Basketball News, in a 69-57 loss. Loder scored 18 of her 36 against Rogers from the free-throw line.

Abbey McDonald, Hibbing. McDonald is averaging 25.5 points per game for the No. 19-3A Bluejackets. McDonald scored 31 points on 11 on 19 shooting against Proctor in a 65-52 victory.

Morgan Hill, Minneapolis South. Hill scored a season-high 34 points in a 78-59 win over Tartan and that came after a 29-point game against St. Paul Central in a 80-53 victory. Hill added 26-points for the Tigers in an 81-28 win over Minneapolis Southwest.

Mary Burke, Mountain Iron-Buhl. Burke has the No. 3-1A Rangers rolling once again after she scored 25 points against Moose Lake-Willow River on 11 of 15 shooting in an 88-31 win. Burke followed that with an 8 of 12 performance and 31 points in a 98-22 victory over South Ridge.

Monika Czinano, Watertown-Mayer. Czinano was sensational against Orono with a 36-point game in a 69-57 victory. That came after Czinano, an Iowa recruit, helped lead the No. 6-2A Royals to a 57-55 win over No. 7-2A New London-Spicer where she scored 20 points.

McKenna Hofschild, Prior Lake. Hofschild followed a season-high 31 points set on Dec. 2 with a 30-point game against Shakopee in a 74-72 win. Hofschild went on to score 24 in a 59-53 loss to Lakeville South. Hofschild is averaging 28.3 points per game for the Lakers.

Claire Wolhowe, Staples-Motley. Wolhowe is averaging 25.4 points per game for the Cardinals and had 27 points in a 65-53 loss to Park Rapids where she shot 11 of 17 from the field. She added 20 points in a 69-34 loss to Pequot Lakes.
