Minnehaha Academy will get a chance to defend its Class 2A title after winning a nail-biter against Sauk Centre in the Class 2A semifinals.
Senior forward Sarina Baker hit five of six crucial free-throw attempts in the final minute to ice the victory for the Redhawks. Baker led Minnehaha Academy with 15 points.
Sauk Centre employed a defense-by-committe to frustrate Baker and the Redhawks' imposing center Katelyn Adams in the first half, but the Redhawks adjusted in the second half to secure the victory.
Kali Peschel led Sauk Centre with 14 points, but the Mainstreeters' star forward made just four of 22 field goal attempts.
