Tied at the half, Thunderhawks fall short late in the game

Grand Rapids experienced both sides Wednesday afternoon at Williams Arena, falling 55-32 to Alexandria in the Minnesota Class 3A high school girls' basketball quarterfinals.

Senior guard Jessi Corrick banked in a 3-pointer from just inside half court at the halftime buzzer to give Grand Rapids a 17-17 tie and apparent momentum.

Defensive intensity helped to stifle that momentum as the third-seeded Cardinals (25-3) hit the first six field goals of the second half and went on a 17-0 run.
