In a game that was tied after the first half, the second-rated Mainstreeters (30-1) pulled away in the second to defeat the No. 6 Warriors.
Sauk Centre point guard Maren Greenwaldt put on a shooting clinic in the first half, which featured seven lead changes. She went 3-for-4 from beyond the three-point line to enter the break with 11 points.
“Maren’s great,” Sauk Centre sophomore forward Macy Weller said. “I don’t know what we would do without her. You can always rely on her, and then she knocks one down, [and] everyone goes nuts.”
Caledonia sophomore Emma Lange, meanwhile, was not fazed and scored 10 of her 14 points in the first half.
The second half was all about Weller, who scored 12 of her 16 points after the intermission.
Greenwaldt finished with 14, as did her teammate, junior forward and future Iowa Hawkeye Kali Peschel.
Peschel was only 1-for-9 from the field on the night, but she made up for it at the free-throw line, where she sank 12 of 15 attempts.
Lange led Caledonia (27-3) with 14 points.
