CLASS 4A
Section 7: Anoka 73, Cambridge-Isanti 66 [OT]
The Tornadoes’ dream postseason refuses to end.
Anoka has tripled its victory total from the regular season in the playoffs, winning four games in 10 days to win the Section 7 championship and advance to the state tournament with a 6-24 record. Anoka, the No. 9 seed in the section, jumped out to a 32-22 halftime lead.

Cambridge-Isanti refused to fold, however, and rallied in the second half, sending the game to overtime on two free throws by Whitney Olson.

But Anoka’s new-found resilience came through in the extra session when freshman Kyrah Fredenburg banked in a three-pointer to start the period. Confidence restored, Anoka pulled away with a 13-2 run.
Claire Lundberg’s 22 points led four Anoka players in double figures. Olson led Cambridge-Isanti with 18 points.

Section 3: Lakeville North 46, Eastview 42
Senior guard Rachel Banham’s layup with 23 seconds gave Lakeville North a 46-40 lead, holding off Eastview and ensuring the 2010 Class 4A champions would have a chance to defend their title.
Playing all 36 minutes, Banham — Gophers coach Pam Borton’s star recruit — finished with a team-high 17 points. Hannah Hughes, Taylor Stewart and Apiew Ojulu each scored eight points for the Panthers.

Collectively, that was enough to offset the performance of Eastview senior guard Alex Beckman, who turned in a season-high 30-point effort for the Lightning.

CLASS 3A
Section 5: Rogers 51, Monticello 36

Senior Maria Loughlin picked a great night to record her season high for points, scoring 22 points to lead the Royals (15-14) to the Section 5 championship and their third trip to the state tournament in school history. It was a disappointing loss for Monticello (14-15), who was one victory from its first state tournament.
