Senior part of Lakers' balanced scoring attack

Megan Pold

Senior Megan Pold leads a balanced scoring attack for the Prior Lake team.

Pold is averaging 12 points per game in her final season. She scored a season-high 23 points in a 60-57 victory at Rosemount.

Here is a closer look at Pold:

Best movie I've seen in the past year: I really don't know. But if I had to pick one it would probably be "No Strings Attached."

Three songs I never skip on my iPod are ... "Ghost In The Machine" by B.o.B.; "Forget You" by Cee Lo Green; "Total Eclipse Of The Heart" by Bonnie Tyler.

Three words my friends or teammates might use to describe me: Outgoing; funny; happy.

Favorite pregame meal: It changes every year. But this year I have found all I really need is a Burger King Coke Slushy.

How do you balance school and sports during the year? It can be really challenging at times, but I just tell myself if I don't have the grades I don't have basketball. There will be game nights that you have to stay up late to get things done or do homework on the bus before.

How did you get started in sports? My whole family is really into sports, so I was kind of just brought up in it. But my dad really was my influence because I wanted to be like him. I fell in love with basketball right away, so I stuck with it and I can't imagine not playing.

Who is your school's biggest rival, and why? It was New Prague, but with the new conference this year it turned to Bloomington Jefferson because we know a few of their players and we don't think they like us very much.

At my first varsity practice, I felt... terrified and excited because I was in eighth grade.

To get focused for competition, I... listen to my iPod and just think about the game and what I can do to help the team to win.

What is your most memorable moment as a high school athlete? I have a lot of awesome memories because each year has been so different. But I would say that the team bonding and sleepovers are the best memories. They are just always S-O-O funny and everyone has a blast. It's a great way to get to know your teammates.

What did you work on in the offseason? I worked on my quickness and endurance. It also helped my vertical.

What are your goals for the 2010-11 school year as an athlete? Break the school's rebounding record, get 1,000 career points and rebounds, and go to state.

I know I have an edge on an opponent when ... I come down the floor on the first play and post her up easily. That's when I know she won't be able to stop me.

In 10 years, I hope I'm ... in medical school and have chosen what exact field I'm going into. Hopefully, have a hot boyfriend.

Do you have a secret talent - and if so, what is it? I can shake my eyes. It's kind of creepy, but I think it's cool.

What is the best sports advice you ever received? "It's amazing what you can accomplish when no one cares who gets the credit."
