Seeded ninth in the nine-team Class 4A, Section 7, the Tornadoes picked up a victory in the section tournament play-in game over No. 8 seed Duluth Central.
While that win wasn’t necessarily a huge upset, their 62-49 victory at No. 1 seed Duluth East certainly qualified as a major upset.
On Monday night, the Tornadoes proved those wins in Duluth were no flukes, coming from behind to knock off No. 4 seed Andover 67-57 in the section semifinals and advance to the Section championship game.
