No. 1 Eden Prairie falls to Edina

EDINA 53, EDEN PRAIRIE 52: The Hornets upset the No. 1-ranked team in Class 4A, handing the Eagles their first conference loss in the process. Trailing 49-44 with four minutes to play, Eden Prairie went on an 8-0 run to take a three point lead. But the Hornets responded, scoring the final four points and withstanding two failed shot attempts in the final five seconds by the Eagles. Senior Jamie Bresnahan hit the game-winning shot from the elbow with 1:15 left, and she the Hornets with 19 points and seven rebounds. Junior Shayne Mullaney scored 17 for the Eagles.

HILL-MURRAY 72, RICHFIELD 60: Junior guard Tessa Cichy was one rebound short of a triple-double (25 points, nine rebounds, 11 assists) while teammate Bethany Doolittle had 23 points and 10 blocks, helping the No. 1, Class 3A Pioneers defeat No. 5, Class 3A Richfield. Sophomore guard Jessica January led Richfield in scoring with 21 points.

KENNEDY 61 ROSEMOUNT 60: Up 15 points with five minutes to play, Kennedy held on behind Jade Martin, who scored 26 points – including 22 of them in the paint.

MAHTOMEDI 58, CHISAGO LAKES 55: Mahtomedi overcame a two-point deficit with 30 seconds left thanks to back-to-back layups by senior forward Mallory Donegan, who led Mahtomedi with 18 points, five assists and five rebounds while spoiling a superb effort by Chisago Lakes' junior guard Whitney Tinjum, who had 29 points.

FRIDLEY 48, TOTINO-GRACE 43: The Tigers secured the North Suburban road upset win behind a game-high 19 points by senior forward Corrine Miles and junior guard Hannah Niewald's 11 points. The duo combined to score 19 of their points in the second half as Fridley erased a 21-17 halftime deficit. The Eagles narrowly defated Fridley 58-54 on Jan. 7.

CONCORDIA ACADEMY 56, HENRY SIBLEY 52: Senior guard Amanda Kramer was 4-for-4 from the free throw line in the game's final minute to seal the road win for Concordia. Jaclyn Smith scored 17 of her team-high 20 points in the first half to pace Concordia. Henry Sibley was led by junior guard Emily Larson with 16 points.

BROOKLYN CENTER 49, ST. PAUL ACADEMY 48: Brooklyn Center survived a frantic second-half comeback from St. Paul Academy to win 49-48 on the road. Junior guard Taneisha Brooks for Brooklyn Center a free throw with 10 seconds left to put her team ahead, and SPA couldn’t counter. SPA almost came all the way back from being down 39-18 at the break.

SHAKOPEE 67, NEW PRAGUE 57: New Prague made a second half run, but it wasn't enough to beat sophomore guard Hanna Zerr and Shakopee. Zerr hit a flurry of three-pointers to break a second-half tie and finished with a game-high 28 points.

COOPER 71, SPRING LAKE PARK 69: Cooper's Chelsey McGee hit a pair of free throws with 8 seconds remaining to lift the Hawks in the North Suburban. Cooper stole the ball on Spring Lake Park's ensuing (and final) possession to hang on. Talalyiah Howard-Rich led the Hawks with 24 points, 22 of which came in the first half.

WATERTOWN-MAYER 74, HUTCHINSON 59: In a battle for second place in the Wright County, Watertown-Mayer junior guard Marissa Janning led all scorers with 35 points, including eight three-pointers, as the Royals cruised. Both teams now have a 12-3 conference record, tied for second behind Orono, which remained undefeated in the conference with a 79-52 victory over Litchfield.

NEW LIFE ACADEMY 60, LEGACY CHRISTIAN 33: Senior guard Cara Lutes topped the 2,000 career point mark with nine points while senior forward Rebekah Schmidt led New Life with 18 points.

MOUNDS VIEW 56, STILLWATER 50: Mounds View led the whole game on its way to a Suburban East victory over Stillwater. The Mustangs were led by senior guard Allison McKee who scored 20 points and had five three-pointers. Sophomore guard Katie McDaniels helped put the game away for Mounds View, going 7-for-9 from the free throw line. Senior guard Kristin Sahr for the Ponies led all scorers with 23 points.

BIG LAKE 59, ROGERS 53 (OT): Big Lake sophomore guard Brigette Audette scored 17 points, including four in overtime to put away conference foe Rogers. A key turnover late in regulation helped Big Lake get the game into overtime.
