Hill-Murray edges Chanhassen in OT

HILL-MURRAY 68, CHANHASSEN 64 (OT): The Class 3A, No. 1 ranked Pioneers overcame a six-point deficit late in regulation to force overtime. Claire Van Dyk connected on the front-end of a pair of free throws to tie the game with 26 seconds remaining. The Storm missed a layup and three pointer at the buzzer. In the extra frame, Hill-Murray shot a perfect six-for-six at the free throw line, including four by senior guard Anna Hangge. Pioneers junior guard Tessa Cichy led all scorers with 20 points while Hangge finished with a season-high 14. Senior guard Katelyn Kalkman led four Storm in double figures with 14 points.

TOTINO-GRACE 51, HOLY ANGELS 43: Improved play on both ends of the court in the second half helped the Eagles overcome a 15-point halftime deficit and beat the Stars in nonconference play. Eagles senior guard Kaeli Kraska scored 13 of her team-high 18 points and junior Gabby Zehrer had 13 of her 17 in the second half. Holy Angels senior guard Laura Margarit scored a game-high 23 points, but she only managed three in the second half.

BENILDE-ST. MARGARET’S 71, ST. PAUL CENTRAL 67: In a nonconference matchup featuring leaders of their respective conferences, the Knights overcame a second-half surge by Central, which was highlighted by four three-pointers by sophomore guard Betsy MacDonald. The Knights rallied behind junior center Khadijah Shumpert’s game-high 18 points. MacDonald finished with 17 for Central.

APPLE VALLEY 67, EAST RIDGE 53: Senior Jordan Sammons led a trio of Eagles in double figures with 15 points. Junior forward Katherine Hagberg scored a season-high 19 for East Ridge. Apple Valley led 31-20 at halftime.
