Player of the Week candidates Feb. 20-25

This week's winner

Marisa Gustafson, Mahtomedi. The senior guard for the No.5-3A Zephyrs contributed 31 points in a 65-55 win over Metro East Conference foe Hastings.

The other candidates

Paige Bueckers, Hopkins. The freshman guard dropped 25 points as the No. 1-4A Royals dominated Eden Prairie 80-32 to finish the regular season undefeated.

Mia Curtis, Minnehaha Academy. The freshman guard tallied 33 points in a 82-70 win over Mayer Lutheran. The No.8-2A Redhawks earned the No. 1 seed in the Section 4 Class 2A tournament.

Elaina Jones, St. Paul Como Park. The sophomore center recorded 32 points, 12 rebounds and a pair of assists in a 82-74 win over Cromwell. Jones averages 13.1 points per game.

Aliza Karlen, St. Paul Central. The freshman forward put up 30 points, 17 rebounds and five assists in a 79-37 win over St. Paul Washington. The Minutemen take on White Bear Lake in the first round of sections.

Chelsea Mason, Mountain Iron-Buhl. The senior guard contributed 30 points as the No.1-1A Rangers beat Sebeka 79-37. Mason is ranked first in the state with 91 three-pointers made.

Alleigh Meyer, Fillmore Central. The junior guard dominated against Spring Grove, where she scored 42 points in pursuit of a 96-50 victory.

McKenna Monahan, Glencoe-Silver Lake. The junior guard tallied 33 points in a 80-47 victory over Rockford. She averages 17.8 ppg.

Anna Olson, Monticello. The freshman forward had an impressive 17 points, 18 rebounds and two assists in a thrilling 73-72 win over St. Cloud Apollo.

Natalie Smaron, Orono. The senior forward recorded 29 points, 21 rebounds and a pair of assists as the No.2-3A Spartans defeated Providence Academy 64-52.
