Player of the Week candidates for Jan. 23-28

This week's winner

Hannah Wentzlaff, Sibley East. The senior center recorded her ninth double-double of the season in a 74-37 loss to No. 3-2A Norwood Young America. She finished with 24 points and 12 rebounds.

The other candidates

Katie Guentzel, Lakeville South. The senior guard contributed 31 points in a 86-79 victory over South Suburban Conference rival Prior Lake.

Jaclyn Jarnot, Maranatha. The junior forward recorded 27 points, 10 rebounds and three assists in a 68-34 win over Trinity that helped the No. 8-1A Mustangs improved their overall record to 10-6.

Shelby Kelley, McGregor. The junior guard tallied 35 points in a win over Polar Conference opponent Carlton. The Mercuries won 71-62.

Masengo Mutanda, Robbinsdale Armstrong. The sophomore guard recorded her fifth double-double of the season with 30 points, 10 rebounds and three assists in a 63-60 win over Blaine.

Kaia Porter, Roseville. The senior guard put up 20 points in a thrilling 63-60 win over Cretin-Derham Hall.

Meleah Reinhart, New Ulm. The senior guard leads the state in total points (533) and points per game (28.1). The Southwest Minnesota State commit contributed 35 points in a dominating 70-23 win over St. James.

Pashia Scott, Columbia Heights. The senior forward tallied an impressive double-double with 21 points and 12 rebounds in the Hylanders' 54-45 win over North Branch.

Mariah Sexe, East Ridge. The senior center led the team with 26 points and 11 rebounds in a 61-53 win over Cretin-Derham Hall.

Natalie Smaron, Orono. In a 69-54 win over Waconia, the senior forward tallied 23 points, 14 rebounds and an assist.
