Lakeville North loses second in a row

EDEN PRAIRIE 60, LAKEVILLE NORTH 46: Lakeville North did something Friday that the Panthers haven’t done in nearly two years: lost its second game in a row. the defending Class 4A state champions were plague once again by a slow start, falling behind Eden Prairie 27-18 at halftime. Rachel Banham was the only Lakeville North player in double figures, scoring 22 points. Eden Prairie forward Jackie Johnson matched Banham with 22 points while Shayne Mullaney chipped in with 12 points and Morgan Van Riper-Rose added 11.

ST. PAUL CENTRAL 73, EAGAN 70: The Minutemen turned up the heat in the second half Friday, rallying from an 11-point halftime deficit by outscoring the host Wildcats 50-36. Marliah Guerra-Edwards scored 20 points and Jen’Von’Ta Hill added 14 for Central. Eagan sophomore Sammie DelZotto led all scorers with 23 points.

MPLS. SOUTH 58, BL. KENNEDY 57: An exciting finish was marred by missed free throws by both teams. South’s Sattoria Rule scored the eventual game-winner with 45 seconds left. A Kennedy turnover on the ensuing posession was negated by two missed free throws by Rule, but Kennedy failed to capitalize, missing three free throws in the final six seconds to seal its own fate. Rule led all scorers with 22 points and added six rebounds.

WAYZATA 64, MAPLE GROVE 57: Marissa Grossfeld scored a career-high 33 points, including 11-for-13 shooting from the free-throw line, as the Trojans roared back from a 35-22 halftime deficit. The game was a rematch from the 2010 Class 4A state tournament quarterfinals, which Wayzata won 56-50.

EDINA 49, CHASKA 48: Edina regrouped in the final three minutes of the game, going on an 8-2 run to regain the lead after Chaska had rallied inthe second half to take a 43-41 lead. Jamie Bresnahan scored 10 of her 12 points in the second half to help Edina, which had built a double-digit lead in the first half, close out the Hawks. Hornets guard Katiebeth Biewen led all scorers with 17 points.
