Girls' high school basketball fans get a chance to see two of the top juniors in the state - players who are also garnering national attention - when Minnetonka and Hopkins meet in our Top Game of the Week.
Minnetonka junior Courtney Fredrickson leads the Skippers in scoring (16.9 points per game). She was named First Team All-State last season and is currently listed as the country's 11th best wing player by ESPN. Fredrickson is one reason Minnetonka is ranked No. 2 in Class 4A by the Minnesota Basketball News.
Hopkins has its own player in the national spotlight in Junior Nia Hollie (13.7 ppg). She is ranked as the No. 14 overall player and the No. 3 wing in the nation by ESPN. Hollie has helped the Royals climb to the No. 1 ranking in Class 4A.
There's more to this matchup than star power. Minnetonka and Hopkins are tied atop the Lake Conference standings, and the Skippers and Royals are also jostling for section seeding.
