McMorris signed with Wisconsin in November and has averaged 21.1 points per game this season.

The Park Center girls’ basketball team was 18-4 through Sunday and ranked second in Class 3A, thanks in large part to its only senior, Cayla McMorris.

McMorris signed with Wisconsin in November and has averaged 21.1 points per game this season. The 5-10 forward led the Pirates to four consecutive victories before a 48-38 loss to Andover on Saturday.

As of Sunday, McMorris was 42 points away from 2,000 in her career, Park Center coach Chris VanderHyde said. At 1,958 points McMorris is already the leading scorer in Park Center girls’ basketball history.

McMorris leads a nine-player rotation that includes four freshmen. Park Center’s second-leading scorer is Mikayla Hayes, a freshman who is averaging 9.9 points.

The Pirates were a half-game behind Centennial for the Northwest Suburban Conference lead as of Tuesday. They have three conference games remaining — none against Centennial.
