How strong is three-time defending Class 4A champion Hopkins? For much of the season, opponents haven’t seen the Royals with all their guns blazing, as injuries have plagued some of the key players.

But Hopkins has gotten healthy since the holidays, and it shows. The Royals have won 11 straight games since back-to-back losses to Eastview and Lakeville North in mid-December. The Royals are formidable when at full strength.

That sets up a great Lake Conference rumble this Friday when Hopkins visits No. 3 Eden Prairie, another team that is surging. The contest between the streaking Eagles and Royals claims the honor as our top game of the week of Feb. 3-9, 2014.
