1. 5K in sight

Braham senior Rebekah Dahlman’s 4,963 career points put her on the verge of joining Lakeview Christian Academy’s Anders Broman as the only players in state history to surpass 5,000 career points. Dahlman, who signed with Vanderbilt, averages 35.6 points per game this season. She hopes to lead the third-ranked Bombers (30-0) to their second Class 2A title in three seasons.

2. Daughter-father combo

Minneapolis Washburn junior Chase Coley and her father, Tylor, led the Millers to their first state tournament appearance since 1984. The duo was rocked by tragedy 2½ years ago, when Chase’s mother and Tylor’s wife, Kelli Jo Behrens-Coley, a Gophers basketball player in the early 1980s, died from a heart attack. Carrying on, Chase Coley, an athletic 6-2 forward, has swatted away 236 opponents’ shots this season.

3. Finley farewell

Providence Academy of Plymouth coach Ray Finley, a longtime fixture in local coaching ranks, is retiring after the tournament. Finley is the only coach in boys’ or girls’ basketball to lead three schools (Blake, Breck and Providence Academy) to state championships. The top-ranked Lions are the defending Class 2A champions.
