Most of the state's best girls' basketball teams and players were at the annual Breakdown Tip-off Classic on Saturday at the Hopkins Lindbergh Center. It featured the four defending state champions -- Hopkins (4A), DeLaSalle (3A), Providence Academy (2A) and Maranatha (1A) -- and more than a dozen of the regions's top recruits.
Braham 75, Park Center 68: The state girls' all-time leading scorer, Bombers senior guard Rebekah Dahlman, eclipsed 4,000 career points in a seven-point victory over the Pirates. The Vanderbilt recruit finished with 41 points while playing on an injured ankle. Park Center junior forward Cayla McMorris had 35 points.
Lakeville North 57, Centennial 45: Panthers coach Andy Berkvam registered his 400th victory in the win over the Cougars. Senior forward Simone Kolander, a Gophers soccer recruit, had 23 points for Lakeville North.
Chaska 57, New Richland-Heartland-Ellendale-Geneva 56: Junior guard MaKena Panning made a free throw with 5.1 seconds remaining, giving the Hawks the victory over the Panthers. Carlie Wagner, the Panthers' outstanding junior guard, led all scorers with 32 points.
