Hill-Murray wins in 4OT
• HILL-MURRAY 103, MAHOTMEDI 96, 4OT: Led by senior Tessa Cichy's school-record 51-point performance, Hill-Murray overcame a four-point halftime deficit, scoring 68 points after the break in a grueling four-overtime victory against Mahtomedi. Cichy, who played the entire fourth quarter and all the overtime periods with four fouls, also set a school mark for free throws made, connecting on 24 of 27 shots from the line. The two Classic Suburban foes' 199 combined points was nearly double the scoring output in their previous matchup on Jan. 6, which Hill-Murray won easily, 61-45. Mahtomedi's Ali Greene scored 31 to lead the Zephyrs, who lost for the seventh consecutive game.
• EDEN PRAIRIE 53, EDINA 46: Senior Jackie Johnson scored 16 points, senior Shayne Mullaney added 14, and Class 4A, No. 3 Eden Prairie edged Class 4A, No. 4 Edina in a Lake Conference game. Hornets senior guard Katybeth Biewen led all scorers with 21 points.
GIRLS' HOCKEY
• MOORHEAD 6, BENILDE-ST. MARGARET'S 2: The Uglem brothers -- Jacob, Nicholas and Tony -- had a hand in every goal of Class 2A, No. 7 Moorhead's dismantling of Class 2A, No. 6 Benilde-St. Margaret's in St. Louis Park on Friday. A senior defenseman, Jacob Uglem had a goal and three assists, while his two younger brothers, juniors Nicholas and Tony, each had three points. The Spuds, who lost to the Red Knights 5-3 on Dec. 30, were outshot 45-38 on the night but got 43 saves from senior goalie Michael Bitzer. Junior Grant Besse scored both goals for BSM.
• NORTH ST. PAUL 3, RED WING 1: Sophomore Tyler Oliver scored his second goal of the game with 2 minutes, 22 seconds remaining in the third period, giving North St. Paul a victory over Red Wing. Junior Preston Blaney made 39 saves in the losing effort for the Wingers.
• HILL-MURRAY 10, SOUTH ST. PAUL 2: Freshman Jessica Bonfe scored three times and added two assists to help Class 2A, No. 2 Hill-Murray stay unbeaten in the Classic Suburban with a dominating victory over Class A, No. 3 South St. Paul. Five Pioneers registered three or more points.
• IRONDALE 5, ST. LOUIS PARK 1: Sophomore Samantha Donovan netted a hat trick as Irondale routed St. Louis Park in a North Suburban matchup. Orioles goaltender Hannah Brodersen made 34 saves in the loss.
BOYS' BASKETBALL
Washburn tops E. Prairie
• MINNEAPOLIS WASHBURN 78, EDEN PRAIRIE 74: Tied 31-31 at the half, Class 3A, No. 3 Minneapolis Washburn outscored Class 4A, No. 5 Eden Prairie 47-43 over the final two quarters to slip past the Eagles in a battle of ranked teams. Eden Prairie senior Sander Mohn led all scorers with 23 points, while Washburn got 18 points from senior Dwight Anderson and 15 from fellow senior Jerry Pratt. The home loss stopped a seven-game winning streak for Eden Prairie, last year's state runner-up in Class 4A.
