Friday's girls' basketball roundup: Hopkins thumps DeLaSalle

• HOPKINS 76, DELASALLE 53: The Royals showed again why they are the best team in the state Friday night. The Class 4A, No. 1 Royals held the Class 3A, No. 2 Islanders scoreless for nine minutes of the second half, cruising to a nonconference victory in Minneapolis. Hopkins senior Sydney Coffey led all scorers with 20 points, while her junior sister Nia added 18. DeLaSalle was led by Tyseanna Johnson's 17 points.

• BENILDE-ST. MARGARET'S 64, TOTINO-GRACE 52: Senior post Khadijah Shumpert had 20 points and 19 rebounds, leading the Class 3A, No. 4 Red Knights past the Eagles in the North Suburban Conference.

• EAGAN 63, ROSEMOUNT 60: Senior guard Jess Hart hit a pull-up 5-foot jumper with seven seconds to play, breaking a 60-60 tie and leading the Wildcats over the Irish in the South Suburban. Hart finished with a team-high 23 points. Sophomore guard Hannah Grim led the Irish with a career-high 29 points.

• OSSEO 64, CENTENNIAL 52: The Class 4A, No. 8 Orioles held the Cougars to 22 second-half points, breaking open a close game en route to first place in the Northwest Suburban. Osseo held a 32-30 lead at halftime. Junior guard Janay Morton scored a game-high 21 points for the Orioles.

• SIMLEY 59, HILL-MURRAY 56: Seventh-grade guard Aejah Lockett hit a three-pointer with 2.6 seconds left as the Spartans upset the Class 3A, No. 5 Pioneers in the Classic Suburban. Simley trailed by 10 at the half but switched defenses from a 1-2-2 to a 2-3 zone, forcing turnovers and creating easy baskets. Hill-Murray captain Tessa Cichy led all scorers with 28 points. Alexis Boyd-Lockett paced Simley with 21 points.
