Walking up and down the sidelines during Tuesday’s game, Hopkins coach Tara Starks looked like she would in any other game, instructing her players and providing plenty of praise with high-fives and cheering.
However, this day was anything but normal for Starks.
Earlier in the day, Starks received the news that her sister had died suddenly in her home. Hours after the news and dealing with the aftermath, Starks made the call to power through traffic, snow and all to make it for most of the Royals’ showdown with St. Michael-Albertville. Starks arrived late and her presence helped Hopkins respond to take down the Knights 104-94.
One Starks received the news of her sister’s passing, she made the trip to her sister’s home, which oddly enough was in St. Michael.
