Quick Q&A with Ta’Kendra (Tia) Elbert

Ta’Kendra (Tia) Elbert

Most memorable moment so far? Just getting to play on that court every Tuesday and Friday night.

First memory of basketball? I was about 7 years old and played for an all-boy team called the Lakers. They wouldn't pass me the ball, so I quit.

Three things you couldn't play without: Pregame music, prayer, Chapstick.

Basketball is ... a way of life!!

Strangest thing experienced during a game? Being tackled. It's not something I would expect in a basketball game.

Most prized basketball possession: The National Championship that my North Tartan AAU team won this past summer.

Favorite part of a game: PRESSURE. At times, you feel like you can't get through it, but when you do, it's the best feeling in the world.

What is running through your mind in the moments before a key late-game possession? How much are we going to run the next practice if we mess this up?

Part of practice that makes you groan: The unforgivable word . . . BASELINE!!!

One sacrifice during the season: Sleep.

Biggest inspiration? My mom. She has always been there through it all and will continue to be there until the end.
