Turnovers haunt Thunder in another game

The Long Prairie-Grey Eagle girls’ basketball team continued their season with a busy second week of games. The first game of the week was Tuesday when they traveled to Albany to take on a tough Huskies team.

Despite very good games for post players Jenna Langer and Sam Zastrow, the Thunder still fell in the contest 72-51.

The Thunder's backcourt was hounded with pressure again and they did not respond well as the team committed 45 turnovers in the contest.

Langer finished with a double-double, tallying 17 points and 13 rebounds.

Zastrow had no problem getting to the free throw line in this contest as she finished with 20 points and went 10 for 14 on free throws.

Head coach Steve Christians was pleased with how the girls played against Albany.

“We played with energy and effort and it almost paid off,” he said. “In the end some breaks did not go our way and it allowed Albany to pull away. The score does not indicate how well the girls played.”
