Huskies overcome Bulldogs' Evans' 26 point 13 rebound night

The Swanville girls continued their busy week on Friday when they traveled to Holdingford to take the Huskies.

The Bulldogs couldn’t shake off injuries and let the game get away from them in the second half as they fell 71-43.

Tiffany Barthel missed the game because of a knee injury from Thursday’s game. This left the rest of the squad out of synch.

“Without her, we had girls in positions that they weren’t compatible with,” head coach Aaron Gapinski said. “The girls handled it well but we ran out of gas towards the end of the game.”

Holdingford’s pressure defense wore down the Swanville girls in the end forcing them into many turnovers. This was extremely evident in the second half as Holdingford outscored the Bulldogs 38-19.

Marissa Evans had another good performance finishing with 26 points and 13 rebounds on the night.

With the loss, the girls fall to 2-3 on the season with a 1-1 conference record.

They will look to bounce back from injuries when they host West Central Area on Tuesday.
