Friday's girls' basketball roundup: Hopkins finally tested

• HOPKINS 46, LAKEVILLE NORTH 41 (OT): The Class 2A, No. 1 Royals appeared to be in a class of their own through their first six games, winning by an average of 47 points. The third-ranked Panthers weren't going to be intimidated, especially on their home court. Hopkins outscored Lakeville North 7-2 in overtime, pulling out a nonconference victory Friday night in Lakeville. Junior guard Taylor Anderson led the unbeaten Royals (7-0) with 13 points while classmate Nia Coffey added 10 points. Junior guard Taylor Stewart had a game-high 16 points for the Panthers (3-1). Hopkins won its first six games by 80, 43, 51, 22, 40 and 46 points.

• MINNEHAHA ACADEMY 61, BROOKLYN CENTER 28: Junior guard Nicole Nipper scored 22 of her game-high 25 points in the first half when the Redhawks built a 22-point lead en route to a Tri-Metro Conference win over the Centaurs.

• SOUTH ST. PAUL 83, COLUMBIA HEIGHTS 27: The Garibay twins -- Mikayla and Makenzie -- combined for 53 points as the Packers cruised past the Hylanders in nonconference play. Mikayla and Makenzie finished with 27 and 26 points, respectively.
