Cardinals open up game with 15-0 run

Juniors Aimee Pelzer and Tracy Herzog provided plenty of offense last Thursday when the Upsala girls’ basketball team hosted the Pillager Huskies.

Pelzer and Herzog scored 21 and 18 points to fuel the Cardinals to a dominating 85-19 victory which saw four Upsala players hit double figures.

Senior Kimmy Mrozek added 11 points and junior Sadie Welinski finished with 10 points on the night.

Pelzer also finished with seven assists and six steals on the night.

Upsala’s full court pressure proved to be too much for yet another team as the Cardinals started the game with a 15-0 run.

11 out of the 13 Upsala players got into the scoring column in the game.

The Cardinals shot nearly 47 percent and pulled down 29 offensive rebounds, giving them plenty of second chance opportunities to score.

The girls will host two games next week including Browerville on Dec. 13 and St. John’s Prep on Dec. 16.
