Jessica Hart

Senior guard Jessica Hart is the floor leader for the Eagan girls' basketball team. Hart is also the Wildcats' leading scorer returning from last year's squad. Here is a closer look at Hart.

The best movie I've seen in the last year? "Bridesmaids."

Three songs I never skip on my iPod are ... "Knock On Wood" by J.Cole; "Show Me a Good Time" by Drake; "Take Care" by Drake.

Three words or phrases my friends or teammates might use to describe me? Competitive; leader; funny.

How did you get started playing basketball? By going to my older brother's practices and games. I could not wait to be old enough to sign up and play on my own teams. We used to also play basketball games in the backyard on our court.

At my first varsity practice, I felt ... nervous and excited.

How do you balance school and athletics? School work first and then many hours late night at the club playing basketball.

What is your favorite meal before a game? Pasta, chicken and fruit.

What is your most memorable moment as a high school athlete? I have three: Starting on my varsity basketball and soccer teams as a freshman, scoring 1,000 career points as a junior on the basketball team, and going to the state soccer tournament.

What are your goals for the 2011-2012 season? Leading my basketball team to the state tournament.

What did you work on in the offseason? Lifting weights, ball handling and shooting.

To get focused for a game, I... sleep, then listen to music and think about the team and players I will be playing against.

Who is your school's biggest rival, and why? Probably Eastview because they have girls on their teams that I played with in middle school and on traveling teams.

I know I have an edge on an opponent when ... I always go into every game feeling I have the edge.

If you could change one thing about high school sports, what would it be? I wouldn't change a thing. I've had a great time.

When you have time off during vacation, what do you like to do? Hang with my brothers and sister. Our family likes to hang out at the lakes in Minneapolis. I also like to go on family vacations.

Who is your favorite college or pro sports team and why? The Los Angeles Lakers because I like Kobe [Bryant]. I like how he can take over games. My favorite college team would be South Dakota State because that is where I will be going to college to play basketball.

In 10 years, I hope I ... live in the city working the job I went to college for. I would like to maybe be coaching college basketball.

Do you have a secret talent -- and if so, what is it? I like to draw. I mostly like to make graffiti posters.

What is the best sports advice you ever received? Let the game come to me and always do the things I can control.
