St. Paul Como Park couldn’t keep Herzig from piling up statistics in Totino-Grace's 86-72 victory in the semifinal in Williams Arena.

Herzig attacked the basket all game and capitalized on her trips to the free-throw line, shooting 12-for-12. She said it's not typical of her to make that many trips to the line.

“It kind of depends on the team that we’re playing. If teams are playing more in the zone, then we have excellent shooters that we can kick it out to,” Herzig said. “But I think that hitting a couple of threes right away really opened up the lane for us to be able to drive and get on the line a lot.”

The Eagles (22-8) shot 27-for-36 at the free-throw line.

“We’ve been shooting a very good free-throw percentage all year,” coach Mary Dengerud said.

Cougars senior guard Ronnie Porter tried to shoot her team back into the game. She scored a team-high 22 points, a chunk of them coming from three-point range in the second half.

“I just wanted to win,” Porter said. “Once I hit one, I felt like I could hit the rest.”

Como Park (23-7) cut the Eagles' lead to 77-67 with a 7-0 run in the final five minutes of the game, but the Eagles held off the rally.
