Lake Crystal Wellcome vs. Minnehaha Academy
Thanks to a speedy and balanced scoring attack — in transition, from three-point range, in the paint — that lead ballooned to 23-3, then 51-18 at the half. The No. 3-seeded Redhawks will face No. 2 seed Fergus Falls in Friday’s semifinals at Williams Arena.
“We like to play fast, we like to push the ball,” said freshman Addi Mack, who scored 12 points, six of them in the first few minutes.
The Redhawks (25-5) scored 43 points off turnovers and 50 in the paint. Five of the nine Redhawks scorers finished in double digits, with senior Charita Lewis leading the way with her 16 points (7-for-9 from the field). Sophomore Angel Hill scored 13, and the team finished with nine three-pointers, too.
“This is a very complete team,” said Redhawks coach Matt Pryor. “The most complete I’ve had here in my time at Minnehaha.”
The Knights (26-5) were held to 11 points in the second half, and they shot just 26.7% (8-for-30) from the field. Lauren Cooper had a team-high 11 points in the game.
“They’re coming at you from all five positions at both ends of the court,” said Knights coach Pete Goeringer. “But we’re not the first team they’ve done that to.”
