Maple Grove extends winning steak with victory over Northwest Suburban rival Totino-Grace

Maple Grove has been winning as of late. 

The Crimson’s 70-59 victory over Totino-Grace extended their winning streak to nine and gave them 13 wins in their last 14 games. 

This one was even more significant, as it was Mark Cook’s 300th win as the head coach of Maple Grove.

First Report

Maple Grove defeated Northwest Suburban foe Totino-Grace 70-59 at home Thursday night. The win extends the Crimson’s (13-4, 10-0) current win streak to nine games and it keeps them undefeated in conference play. 

The No. 8-4A Crimson controlled this game from start to finish. They led the entire way after going up 2-0 early. The Eagles (12-6, 6-5) fought to bring a 14-point halftime deficit to only three points midway through the second half, but they couldn’t carry that momentum until the final whistle. 

Kyla Overskei led all scorers in the game with 24 points. She added four rebounds, two assists and three steals. Freshman Jordan Ode also eclipsed double digits, scoring 14 while stuffing the stat sheet with eight rebounds and five assists. 

Hannah Herzig led the way with 20 points for the Eagles, adding four rebounds and five assists. Leah Dengerud had a team-high seven rebounds while adding 12 points. Caraline Schlaefer added 12 points and six board while Grace Spevacek had 10 points and three rebounds.
