When you’ve played together for eight years, it’s a safe bet to assume teamwork comes naturally.

That’s what it looked like Tuesday night as Leah Dengerud and Hannah Herzig suited up for yet another game together, helping their Totino-Grace Eagles cruise to a 72-32 win over Hill-Murray at Totino-Grace High School.

“They know where each other's at at all times on the floor,” Totino-Grace head coach Mary Dengerud said. “They’re just ball hungry.”

That hunger not only applied to the two teammates who have played together since 5th grade, but to the rest of the team.

First Report

Leah Dengerud and Hannah Herzig helped the Eagles cruise to a 72-32 win over Hill-Murray in nonconference Class 3A action Tuesday night at Totino-Grace High School.

Dengerud led Totino-Grace with 27 points, while Herzig posted 13. Using stingy defense and lively hands, the Eagles were able to build a big first-half lead, and extend upon it in the second half. Dengerud knocked down three 3-pointers in that first half, and finished 7-for-11 from the free throw line.

Hill-Murray couldn’t crack the Eagles defense, and struggled to hold onto the ball early. The Pioneers got a majority of its scoring from the free throw line, where they went 21-for-28. Hill-Murray hit just two shots from the floor in the first half.

The Pioneers were led by Ella Runyon, who scored 11 points and hauled in 13 rebounds.
