The season opener for the Swanville Bulldogs girls’ basketball team was an exciting one. It saw players from both teams go over 30 points and the Bulldogs had two players with double-doubles.
The Bulldogs had a more well rounded attack as they defeated Pillager 84-54.
Marissa Evans led the way with a game high 34 points and also added 11 rebounds.
Pillager’s Katelyn Peterson finished the game with 31 points.
Swanville’s Nikki Primus also had a double-double with 12 points and 13 rebounds.
Head coach Aaron Gapinski was very pleased with how his team played.
“We came out strong and played a solid game. We need to continue to believe in ourselves and work on the little things to keep improving,” he said. “It was great to start the season with a win. We saw a lot of positives and saw some things that we will continue to work on to get better.”
Tiffany Barthel led the team with 13 assists and did well in many other areas finishing with nine points, six rebounds, and four steals.
The Bulldogs finished with 22 assists as a team.
