Top games: Chaska hosts surging Wayzata for west metro duel

We task our reporters with identifying several intriguing games throughout the state to assemble our Top Games of the Week. The matchups are presented in no particular order, and when there are additional games we want to highlight, we’ll include them with brief notes.




Other games to keep an eye on

Pine River-Backus vs. Cass Lake-Bena, 7 p.m., Thursday, Feb. 25. Cass Lake-Bena (9-2) is chasing No. 8-1A Pine River-Backus (8-1) in the Northland Conference standings and this Thursday's game is the first of two meetings between the two teams this winter.

Maple Grove vs. Centennial, 7 p.m., Tuesday, Feb. 23. After both these teams were defeated last week by Elk River, the Northwest Suburban Conference West Division's top team, the top two programs in the North Division face each other. No. 6-4A Maple Grove (10-1) rebounded from a 17-point loss to the Elks by defeating Blaine 65-52. No. 4-4A Centennial (10-1) fell 45-32 to Elk River in its last game and is hoping to recover.
