Rochester Lourdes scored eight consecutive points in the first half to build a lead and held off Concordia Academy for a 71-55 victory in a Class 2A quarterfinal Wednesday at Williams Arena.
The Eagles took their first double-digit lead at 22-11 with 9:29 left in the first half.
“(Our start) was crucial for us. That kind of set the tone,” said Eagles senior Alyssa Ustby, who is headed to North Carolina. “It said we were going to be the aggressor this game. We sent that message early.”
Rochester Lourdes scored eight consecutive points in the first half to build a lead and held off Concordia Academy for a 71-55 victory Wednesday in the quarterfinal round of the Class 2A state tournament at Williams Arena.
Caroline Adamson led the Eagles during two runs that helped build a pair of double-digit leads. She finished the game with 23 points.
Alyssa Ustby scored 20 points in the first half to help the Eagles take a 13-point lead into the break. She was unable to find as much space in the second half and finished the game with a game-high 25.
The Beacons got to within seven points with 10:50 to play, but the Eagles responded with a 10-3 run to put the game away.
Ivane Tensale led the Beacons with 19 points.
