If Friday was a preview of how the postseason will go, teams will have to watch out for St. Michael-Albertville.

No one is sleeping on the Knights — they’re ranked No. 6 in the Class 4A rankings by Minnesota Basketball News, after all. But in a tough road matchup at No. 10-4A Eden Prairie, St. Michael-Albertville out-executed the Eagles on both sides of the ball to finish the regular season with a 73-54 win that looked easy from start to finish.

“I knew sections were coming up and I knew we had to get better,” freshman guard Tessa Johnson said. Our energy isn’t like the best when we start games lately, so we needed a lot of energy.”

Johnson had 18 points to lead all scorers, though she had plenty of help from an offense that moved and shared the ball quickly and decisively. Whether it was finding the open shooter outside, dishing it in to a cutter on the baseline or taking advantage of numbers in transition, the Knights’ offense looked ruthlessly efficient against the Eagles.
