Top games: Becker aims to build towards a repeat trip to state in duel with Big Lake

Jan. 28: After falling in the Class 3A state championship game, the Bulldogs are back as a state-ranked program hoping to continue rolling against the Hornets.

We task our reporters with identifying several intriguing games throughout the state to assemble our Top Games of the Week. The matchups are presented in no particular order, and when there are additional games we want to highlight, we’ll include them with brief notes.






Other games to keep an eye on

Mahtomedi vs. Hill-Murray, 7 p.m., Tuesday, Jan. 28. These Metro East Conference and Class 3A, Section 4 rivals clash with seeding and standings implications at stake. The No. 10-3A Pioneers (12-6, 7-1) defeated the Spartans (12-3, 4-2) 49-40 on Jan. 3.

Centennial vs. Maple Grove, 7 p.m., Monday, Jan. 27. No. 5-4A Centennial (15-2 , 4-1) and No. 9-4A Maple Grove (13-4, 5-1) are among the top teams in the Northwest Suburban Conference North Division standings.
