Starting fast is one thing. But a young team continuing to romp against a ranked opponent?
That’s a different beast.
That was the case Friday, as Chaska roared out to a 17-0 lead, and finished off a 70-57 home win over Eden Prairie that was never in doubt. Although it was a nonconference matchup, the result could affect seeding come playoffs, as both teams are in Class 4A, Section 2.
The 13-point final margin was not indicative of a game the Hawks mostly spent carrying a 20-plus point lead. Chaska (4-2, 0-0) had an advantage of 27-4 in the first half, and led by 30 at one point in the second.
