All-Metro first team

All-Metro first-team members sound off on….

	Best gym/arena I’ve played in and why	Last song I listen to on game day	What I want an opposing coach to say about me after a game
Paige Bueckers	The Lindbergh Center. It’s my home court, and so beautiful.	Party in the U.S.A.	She plays hard, and respects the game.
Frannie Hottinger	Target Center during the state tournament. It’s so cool to play on such a big stage in front of so many fans.	Bring Em Out	I’m a hard worker who will do anything to help her team win.
Lauren Jensen	Target Center because it’s a fun atmosphere, and has a playoff feel.	Swervin	I’m a leader out on the floor, and play with heart.
Sara Scalia	Stillwater, because I’ve played there since eighth grade, and built a lot of memories and friendships there.	Post to Be	That I work hard and won’t give up.
Kallie Theisen	Wayzata, because it can get very loud when we pack the stands. We have a great home-court advantage.	Do the John Wall	I’m a great competitor who always works hard. I also want them to say I have great sportsmanship.

All-Metro second team

McKenna Hofschild
Prior Lake, 5-3, senior, guard
College: Seton Hall
The school’s all-time leading scorer (2,488 points) missed part of the season with a high ankle sprain. She scored a state-record 63 points against Park Center.

Mackenzie Kramer
St. Michael-Albertville, 5-10, junior, guard
College: undecided
A gym rat with a high basketball IQ. “She can take over a game and put the team on her back,” Knights coach Kent Hamre said.

Taylor McAulay
Centennial, 5-11, senior, guard
College: Drake
Shouldered the load for 25-4 Cougars squad. “An incredible finisher, shooter and distributor,” Centennial coach Jill Becken said.

Adalia McKenzie
Park Center, 5-10, sophomore, forward
College: undecided
Continued her progression this season, averaging 27.9 points, 10.7 rebounds, with 4.1 steals per game.

Tori Nelson
Henry Sibley, 6-1, senior, forward
College: South Dakota State
“Tori has left an imprint and legacy on the program that will be remembered for years to come,” Warriors coach Harry Jenness Jr. said.

All-Metro third team

Dlayla Chakolis, Hopkins, , 5-7, senior guard. College: Hampton.
Mia Curtis, Minnehaha Academy, 5-9, junior guard. College: undecided.
Macy Guebert, Eastview, 5-10, senior guard. College: South Dakota.
Jenna Johnson, Wayzata, 6-2, sophomore forward. College: undecided.
Taylie Scott, Heritage Christian, 5-7, senior guard. College: Westmont, Calif.

How the team was chosen

The Star Tribune’s all-metro teams and Metro Player of the Year were chosen based on nominations from metro-area coaches, conversations with a panel of coaches and staff observations.
