Red Wing vs. Austin

7:30 p.m. Friday, Feb. 14

Red Wing and Austin will square off for the second time this season on Friday, but there's a possibility it won't be the final time.

The teams are not only among the frontrunners in the Big 9 Conference standings, they're also probable contenders for this season's Class 3A, Section 1 crown.

Austin won the first time the teams met this season, holding the No. 7-3A Wingers down in a 42-34 triumph on Jan. 7.

Sophomore Hope Dudycha is a player No. 6-3A Austin counts on for offensive production. She scored 21 points in wins against Kasson-Mangorville (63-57 on Nov. 22) and Mankato East (64-63 on Jan. 16) this season.

Red Wing (20-2, 16-2) will look to generate more firepower in the rematch. The 34 points scored in its previous matchup with Austin remains the Wingers' lowest point total of the season — by 14 points. Senior Kyli Nelson (17 ppg) could help provide that spark.
