Duluth Marshall vs. Proctor

7:15 p.m., Tuesday, Jan. 21

As the defending champion in Class 2A, Section 7, Proctor seems on track to make a return trip to the state tournament.

The Rails (15-1, 2-1) haven't lost since Dec. 14, building up to a 10-game winning streak during that time. Their success has come from playing superb defense, as opponents average just 36.6 points per game against the No. 7-2A Rails.

Sam Pogatchnik helps balance Proctor's smothering defense with 14.7 points per game of production.

A good performance against Proctor on Tuesday could put No. 6-2A Duluth Marshall on track as another repeat contender in Section 7. Last season, the Hilltoppers played in the section title game, where the lost to the Rails 62-46.

Led by Grace Kirk, who is a 2020 McDonald's All-American Game nominee, the Hilltoppers (11-1, 1-0) produce at an impressive clip of 76 points per game. A Brown commit, Kirk averages more than 20 points per game. Teammate Gianna Kneepkens, a junior guard, has also impressed, averaging 31 points a game.
