Holy Angels vs. Richfield

5:15 p.m., Friday, Jan. 24

Richfield is having an impressive turnaround season. A year removed from a five-win season, the Spartans have already tripled their total number of victories, winning 15 games this season.

The Spartans (15-1, 2-1) have dominated the first half of the regular season, losing only to No. 1-3A DeLaSalle — an 81-56 blemish that came on Jan. 10.

Senior Molly Stark has powered Richfield's improvement with her ability to score in the double-digits. A pair of sisters, senior Tianna Powell and freshman Taleigha Powell, are also significant contributors.

For an improving squad like Richfield, a triumph over defending Class 3A, Section 6 champion Holy Angels (8-5, 2-1) would be a big confidence boost.

Holy Angels continues to keep its standing as a top team in the state thanks in part to its difficult schedule. In addition to its 83-79 loss to DeLaSalle on Jan. 7, three of its losses have come against Class 4A opponents.

Francesca Vascellaro, Kassandra Caron, Rachel Kawiecki, and Grace Massaquoi each average double-digit point totals for the No. 2-3A Stars.
