Winning by an average of nearly 40 points per game, the closest an opponent has gotten to beating the Royals, who are ranked No. 1 in Class 4A by Minnesota Basketball News from Jan. 15, is No. 7-4A Park Center and Eden Prairie. They each lost to Hopkins by 18 points.

However, Hopkins (15-0, 3-0) has yet to face Lake Conference rival Wayzata (14-1, 2-0) this season. On Tuesday, that will change when the Royals host the Trojans in our Top Game of the Week.

Hopkins' dominance goes well beyond this season, as the Royals haven't lost since suffering a 68-63 defeat to Eastview in the Class 4A state championship game in 2018. Since then, they've won 47 consecutive games, including last year's big-school state championship.

What's made the Royals so good? Averaging 87 points per game, they have Class 4A's highest-scoring offense. Paige Bueckers, committed to Connecticut, deserves a ton of the credit as the top player in the nation's 2020 class, according to ESPN and various other sports media outlets. The guard averages 20.4 points, 9.5 assists and five steals per game this season.

Joining Bueckers are sophomore forward Maya Nnaji, another top recruit who averages 18 points a game, and freshman Taylor Woodson, who received a scholarship offer from Minnesota as an eighth-grader, and averages 14.3 points per game.

With a potent offense of its own that averages 75 points per game, No. 2-4A Wayzata has also been dominant.

Tuesday's matchup features two players nominated to be selected to the McDonald's All-American Game. Bueckers is one, and Wayzata's Annika Stewart is the other. Averaging 15.5 points per game this season, Stewart is committed to Nebraska.

Jenna Johnson (23.4 ppg), a junior committed to Utah, and Mara Braun (14.1 ppg), a sophomore, are also key contributors for the Trojans.
