Park Center vs. Centennial

7 p.m., Tuesday, Jan. 14

Centennial saw its 11-game winning streak snapped last week, as the Cougars lost 57-53 on Andover on Jan. 9. Now the Cougars look to start a new run, starting with a victory over Park Center on Tuesday.

Jenna Guyer and Jodi Anderson, who both average more than 14 points per game, power the No. 4-4A Cougars' offense.

Showing versatility, Guyer, a junior center, broke Centennial’s rebounds record by grabbing 22 in a 70-65 victory over Rogers on Dec. 17.

The No. 9-4A Pirates started the season on a streak of their own, winning their first 11 games before losing back-to-back contests to No. 1-4A Hopkins (97-79 on Dec. 28) and No. 8-4A Elk River (65-50 on Jan. 7).

Park Center's offense, averaging more than 74 points per game, can be overpowering for many opposing teams. Adalia McKenzie leads the attack, scoring 32.2 points per game. Teammates Lauren Frost (14.8 ppg) and T'Naye Griffin (12.8 ppg) are also proven scorers.

Winning this matchup will mean more than just one team picking up a signature win versus a top-10 ranked opponent. Both Centennial (12-2, 2-1) and Park Center (12-2, 3-1) play in Class 4A, Section 5, and the Cougars are the section's defending champions.
