Minneota vs. Goodhue

5 p.m., Saturday, Jan. 11

Saturday's matchup with Goodhue will bring one of the most significant tests of the season thus far for Minneota. Are the No. 1-1A Vikings ready for the challenge?

Minneota edged No. 2-1A Cromwell 49-47 on Nov. 23, and now Minneota will have another test from a Class 2A power in Goodhue at the Kasson-Mantorville Showcase.

Minneota players aren't used to losing. Last season, the Vikings finished 30-1 and clinched the Class 1A state title in a 40-31 victory over Goodhue.

The Vikings (10-0, 4-0) rely on sisters Morgan and Abby Hennen for offense. The duo combined for 24 points in their team's defeat of Cromwell.

Goodhue (12-1, 2-0) has also been dominant, with the Wildcats' only blemish this season coming on Nov. 23 in a 53-40 loss to No. 3-3A Red Wing.

The Wildcats have shown the ability to dominate teams defensively with opponents scoring an average of just 39.2 points against them.

Opposing defenses also have struggled at times to slow Elissa Lodermeier, who routinely scores double digits.
