Austin vs. Red Wing

7:30 p.m., Tuesday, Jan. 7

Austin lost two of its three matchups to Red Wing last season but its one triumph came at the right time. The Packers defeated Red Wing 73-70 in a Class 3A, Section 1 semifinal last season, setting up a section championship and state tourney berth.

Now these Section 1 and Big 9 Conference rivals will meet for the first time this season on Tuesday.

Austin (11-2, 8-1) might have some extra motivation entering Tuesday's matchup, as the No. 4-3A Packers are coming off a 46-42 loss to No. 6-3A Simley at the Rochester Hoops Challenge on Jan. 4.

Austin's offense is fueled by Hope Dudycha, Kyra Walters and Colie Justice, who each average 12 or more points per game.

Red Wing (12-0, 8-0), meanwhile, has dominated its opposition almost the entire season. The No.3-3A Wingers defense has stood out, holding opponents to 43.8 points per game.

Red Wing also has scorers it can lean on this season in Kyli NelsonAbi Deming and Sydnee Nelson.
